I really loved drinking jamu when I lived in Bali last year, which is basically their wonder drink. It is delicious, very healing and really helped with reducing the inflammation on my knee after my accident. So much so that I was inspired to recreate it when I returned to the UK. This lead to the creation of my delicious Tumeric & LemonLicious Tea. The secret ingredient….. turmeric.
Turmeric is one of THE healthiest spices that you can eat. It is a powerful antioxidant, improves brain function (and has been shown to help with depression), reduces inflammation, helps to prevent cancer, and even helps with joint pain.
So needless to say, I try to get as much of it in my diet as possible. A quick and easy way you can get it into your diet is by making my tumeric & lemonlicious tea. It is delicious, easy to make and sooo good for you!
Add 1/4-1/2 tspn tumeric to hot water or hot milk (almond or your own preference).
Add honey (1tspn or as you like it)
Optional extra: Add a sprinkling of cinnamon or nutmeg.
Top tip: Keep stirring as you drink so the turmeric doesn’t settle to the bottom.
This is really good first thing in a morning with the hot water to flush out your system and get you going! Or make with hot milk and allow to cool. Pop it in the fridge and enjoy it cold when you like. It should last for a few days in the fridge, so I like to make a one litre batch of it at a time.
Note – Tumeric stains, so be carful when handling it or using on light coloured surfaces.
