5 Small Habits That Make a Big Difference to How You Feel
When we decide we want to feel better, most of us go all in. New diet on Monday, new gym membership, a list of rules as long as your arm. And by Thursday, life has got in the way and we feel like we've failed again.
Here's the truth: lasting change rarely comes from big, dramatic overhauls. It comes from small things, done consistently, that quietly add up. These are the five habits I come back to again and again.
1. Start the day with water, not your phone. Before the emails, before the scrolling, have a big glass of water. You've gone hours without any, and even mild dehydration can leave you tired, foggy and reaching for sugar. It's the simplest win of the day.
2. Build your plate around protein and colour. Rather than cutting things out, think about what you can add in. A good source of protein and something colourful at every meal keeps you fuller for longer, steadies your energy and does wonders for your skin.
3. Move a little, every day. It doesn't have to be an hour-long workout. A brisk walk, ten minutes of stretching, dancing in the kitchen. Movement is about how it makes you feel, not punishing yourself for what you ate.
4. Protect your sleep. Sleep is when your body repairs, your hormones rebalance and your mind resets. Try a regular bedtime, a cooler room and putting your phone down thirty minutes before you switch off the light.
5. Check in with yourself. Once a day, pause and ask: how am I actually feeling? Tired? Stressed? Happy? Noticing is the first step to looking after yourself properly.
Pick one. Just one. Do it for a week, then add another. That's how a new chapter is written: one small, kind choice at a time.
